Firm Philosophy

Our professionals adhere to strict professional and ethical guidelines. Helms CPA, PLLC strives to be the best in class certified public accounting firm focused on taxation services in Middle Tennessee. Each year our professionals obtain a minimum of 40 hours of continuing professional education to increase our knowledge and technical proficiency while staying current with emerging issues and tax law changes that impact our clients.

We are focused exclusively on providing taxation and complimentary services to our clients. Helms CPA, PLLC does not receive commissions for the referral of any outside products or services. Our professionals will not try to sell our clients insurance, investments, medical billing services, human resources services, or staffing services.

Helms CPA, PLLC approaches our client relationships from a holistic and proactive point of view providing tax services that help our clients throughout the year and not just during tax season.

Who Are Our Clients?

Helms CPA, PLLC accepts clients who understand the significant differences between our service offerings and those of retail tax preparation companies.

Businesses
Our business clients are small and mid-size businesses who need tax assistance and guidance.  We find that many small and mid-size businesses lack the resources to have in-house tax professionals and therefore heavily rely on our services.  Helms CPA, PLLC’s proactive approach to client education, tax planning, and tax compliance is what makes us unique.

Individuals
We limit the number of individual “1040” clients that are accepted each year.  The following individuals are candidates:

  • Owners and officers of our corporate clients
  • Select individuals with complex income tax returns or tax issues
  • By referral from an individual with whom we have an existing relationship including attorneys, advisors, and clients

Estates
Our estate clients are often dealing with significant life changes such as the loss of a loved one.  An executor or executrix of an estate may be overwhelmed with what is often a once in a lifetime experience.  Helms CPA, PLLC provides guidance throughout the estate administration process to ensure that all tax related issues are addressed and resolved.  This approach is why numerous attorneys refer their clients to us for assistance with the tax aspects of an estate.

Fiduciaries

Typical fiduciary clients include estates, trusts, and guardianships.   Some clients may have experience with several trusts as part of an overall estate plan, while others are not familiar with the intricacies and tax reporting involved with these types of entities.  We provide guidance alongside our clients’ legal advisors to educate our clients, provide compliance with tax reporting, and to assist with tax planning when needed.
